Direct Manufacturer is seeking a Production Print Instructor in the Orange County, CA marketplace. The primary responsibility will be to teach and train technicians in the field of print production. This person will be responsible for impacting technical knowledge and skills related to various aspects of print production, including pre-press processes, printing techniques, equipment operation, quality control, and post-production procedures. This role will play a crucial role in shaping the skills and capabilities of students, preparing them to support their customers in the print industry. Candidates that have their 3T certification is strongly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver effective technical instructional materials and lessons on print production techniques and processes.
  • Teach students how to operate and maintain print production equipment, such as printers, digital presses, and bindery machines.
  • Instruct students on pre-press activities, including file preparation, color management, and proofing.
  • Demonstrate various printing methods, such as offset printing, screen printing, and digital printing.
  • Train students on post-production tasks, such as finishing, binding, and packaging.
  • Provide hands-on training to students, allowing them to practice their skills in a controlled environment.
  • Assess student performance through examinations, assignments, and practical assessments.
  • Identify individual learning needs and adapt teaching methods accordingly.
  • Stay up to date with advancements in print production technology and industry trends.
  • Collaborate with other instructors and staff members to develop and improve the curriculum.
  • Provide guidance and support to students, offering career advice and helping them develop job search skills.
  • Maintain a safe and organized learning environment, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in print production, graphic arts, or a related field.
  • Proven experience and expertise in print production processes, including pre-press, printing, and post-production.
  • Strong knowledge of printing equipment and software, such as Adobe Creative Suite and RIP software.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts in a clear and concise manner.
  • Patience and enthusiasm for teaching and mentoring students of diverse backgrounds and skill levels.
  • Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Ability to adapt to changing technologies and industry practices.
  • 7+ years of teaching or training in the print production field.
