Our client is seeking a Vice President of Sales to work out of their corporate headquarters in the Twin Cities. The Vice President of Sales will oversee and lead the activities of the Sales Department and report directly to the President and CEO. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker and self-starter who is focused on creating solutions and solving business problems with a consultative sales approach and be a multi-dimensional thinker who operates not only based on important past experiences, but with the incorporation of new approaches and developments that occur in a Managed Technology Total office approach market.

Major Goals:

  • Drive the success of the Sales Department overall and proactively identify new revenue opportunities to drive account and revenue growth
  • Provide key leadership and development opportunities to the sales managers and sales team members
  • Create new, and cultivate existing senior relationships with customers and vendors while driving for a robust pipeline
  • Communicate information effectively to diverse audiences, internal and external to the company
  • Achieve key metric goals, revenue and gross margin

Duties of the Role:

  • Recruit, hire and train sales managers and staff
  • Organize and oversee the schedules, territories, and performance of regional and local sales managers
  • Conduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructive
  • Handle discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy
  • Provide leadership to the sales team
  • Motivate and encourage sales team to ensure quotas are met
  • Review and analyze sales and operational records and reports; use data to project sales, determine profitability and targets, and identify potential new markets
  • Identify and analyze customer preferences to properly direct sales efforts
  • Assign territories and set quotas for sales teams
  • Consult with potential customers to understand their needs; identify and suggest equipment, products, or services that will meet those needs
  • Resolve customer complaints, staffing problems, and other issues that may interfere with efficient sales operations
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to develop sales quotas and strategies
  • Prepare sales budget; monitors and approves expenses
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Must be organized, analytical, creative, and adaptive
  • Have a proven track record of both achieving and over-achieving goals in past sales positions
  • Significant experience and discipline in managing, reporting and accurately forecasting sales pipelines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent teamwork capabilities
  • Experience in managing and closing complex sales opportunities
  • Excellent sales and customer service skills with proven negotiation skills.
  • Proven success in managing clients with multiple lines of business
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct line authority
  • Experience in working with managed services and/or office technology
  • Ability to serve in a consultative role as it relates opportunity development
  • Broad relationship development and people networking experience
  • Demonstrated experience at increasing deal close rates, utilizing a structured qualification process with identifying customer compelling events
  • Existing relationships and contacts will drive a robust pipeline
