Why a Change of Scenery Works
Shifting to a new organization can have an almost immediate effect. A fresh environment may bring:
- Different leadership styles that might resonate better with the individual.
- A culture that fits their personality and values, whether that’s collaborative, fast-paced, highly structured, or entrepreneurial.
- Opportunities to use their strengths more fully, with responsibilities better matched to their abilities.
- Renewed motivation, fueled by the excitement of starting fresh and proving themselves in a new role.

Featured Comments:
- “We’re back-filling for someone we lost but also taking the opportunity to reorganize since their departure. Splitting the role to be covered by two new employees and changing management assignments. Could be good, we’ll see.”
- “Not sure if you would call it expanding more than bringing in younger people to replace an aging workforce. In our service department the vast majority are within 3-4 years of retiring. We’re adding people now but I’m sure that will taper off once we get to a spot that we know we will have service techs for the future.”
- “We are not expanding except upper management positions being created.”
- “Despite major announcements about new partnerships, we seem to be losing our base. I know of two accounts in my area that my company has lost in the last year. This may be reflected nationwide. But it seems senior management wants to crow about our successes. They ought to be asking themselves why we lost those accounts, and what we can do differently. Maybe they are, but word of it doesn’t filter down to the troops.”
