Featured Comments:
- “I think the shortage of techs unequivocally answers this question. Unless this ‘Amazing Talent’ comes with a hometown discount, the answer is an obvious no. The desire for affordable mediocrity takes up whatever bandwidth remains for hiring truly talented technicians.”
- “In our tiny market? Absolutely!”
- “In several of the companies I worked for over a 24-year period as a technician, it never ceased to amaze me how underperforming the salespeople were, but the company just kept hiring more rather than raising the expectations of the current salespeople. I had more customers (the decision makers!) asking me what machine they should get next because their salesperson wouldn’t get back with them. Then if I reached out, the rep would never respond, even to me! Put in a lead? Oh yeah, despite the customer asking me to get the process started the salesperson would say ‘I’m already working that’ and no lead money for me! Lol, so I just stopped putting in leads, gave the customer their name and number and said I can’t reach them either. Salespeople, your technicians are your inside guy! Take care of them!”
