Total compensation is up 5 percent since last year, though commissions still have not recovered to pre-recession levels.
Compensation plans have gotten more complicated as dealerships continue to refine their formulas. For some sales managers, these changes have negatively impacted commissions.
Long hours and high stress levels have caused many sales managers to reconsider their responsibility levels.
